This project asked for a new logo for a new small business consulting agency. The owner of the business wanted the logo to feel personal to herself through her chosen colors, images, and hidden minimalist cross elements of the design. This one was a challenge, and went through many iterations to get the perfect look. I used Illustrator largely to create the product with some Photoshop to create the watercolor effects.

This logo project had 2 deliverables in the end as the client couldn’t decide which version she preferred and couldn’t part with either. Both were created the same way, only the texture and colors changed. The client had a clear idea for how the AKMB was to look and that largely remained unchanged. I had free rein to explore how to incorporate her 2 ideas into a working logo, a butterfly and a daisy. She also liked the look of some watercolor examples she had seen from other designs and so asked me to make a watercolor look as well. I started off with finding some free vectors and in photoshop recreating the basic shapes and adjusting where I felt was needed. I turned those recreations into a masking layer to get the sharp full color effect I wanted. The gold used a basic high quality gold texture and the mask was used to only have the silhouette of the butterfly and daisy show through. The color version worked the same way, but I painted a basic watercolor background instead with the chosen colors teal and pink. Then I went back to the mask layer and added some watercolor brush effects to break up that silhouette enough to help further sell the watercolor feel that was asked for.
